One of the most cherished spaces on our campus is The Atelier – a bright, welcoming art studio where children’s imaginations are free to explore.
Here, amidst the vibrant colors and textures of mixed media, young artists breathe life into their ideas, turning dreams into tangible masterpieces.
As a cornerstone of La Piazza’s collaborative curriculum, The Atelier is more than just an art studio; it is a sanctuary where creativity knows no bounds. Guided by Atelieristas with Master’s Degrees in Fine Arts, each class becomes an exploration, a journey in which children are encouraged to deepen their own understanding of the world around them and express it in ways both personal and profound. Thoughtfully connected to their interests and the themes they explore, these art experiences become pathways to discovery, where creativity and imagination are nurtured, celebrated, and transformed into beautiful realities.

Meet the Atelieristas
Monica Lutz
Atelierista
Miss Monica Lutz has been a beloved part of the La Piazza Academy family since 2013, bringing with her a deep reverence for beauty, creativity, and the wonder of childhood. Originally from the picturesque landscapes of Switzerland, Monica came to the United States in 1987, carrying with her a love of art and a spirit of curiosity that has never dimmed.
She holds a Master’s in Fine Arts from the renowned Maryland Institute College of Art, and her artistic lens touches everything she does—from the way she sets up her atelier to the way she engages children in the creative process. Monica sees the world through an artist’s eyes: full of color, texture, emotion, and possibility.
More than just an educator, Miss Monica is a nurturer of the imagination. Under her care, children are not only guided to create, but to observe deeply, express boldly, and celebrate the unique beauty of their own ideas. Her gentle presence fosters a sense of calm and inspiration, inviting students to explore the world—and themselves—with confidence and curiosity.
Ileana Arria
Atelierista
Miss Ileana Arria became a part of the La Piazza family in 2019, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a heart deeply rooted in the world of children. Sixteen years ago, she journeyed to Miami from her homeland of Venezuela, where she was a teacher, school psychologist, guide, and advocate.
Her understanding of the child’s inner world is both profound and compassionate, shaped by years of listening deeply and observing with care. Since 2008, she has been immersed in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, drawn to its respect for the child as capable, curious, and full of potential.
At La Piazza, Miss Ileana brings this philosophy to life with quiet wisdom and grace. Her presence is steady and nurturing, her approach intentional and kind. She believes that each child carries a light within them—and her work is to help that light shine freely.
